Tattoo Aftercare at Gold Sparrow Tattoo
It is crucial to prioritize your skin's health and well-being when it comes to tattoo aftercare. While the instructions provided by Gold Sparrow Tattoo are helpful, it is important to exercise caution and pay attention to any negative reactions or discomfort. The instructions below are to be followed as long as your skin is not having a negative response to the adhesive or film being used. If this occurs, remove the adhesive or film bandage at the first signs of irritation, redness or excessive itching and clean your tattoo with unscented and dye-free antibacterial soap and do not cover it again.
Please feel free to contact your artist with any and all questions or concerns. We are always available by phone during business hours or email anytime.

Follow Our Recommended Guidelines.
When it comes to tattoo aftercare, there are two main methods that are commonly used at Gold Sparrow Tattoo. It's important to approach this process with caution and follow the recommended guidelines to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of infection.
Two
Options
Available
The first option for aftercare is a medical-grade adhesive bandage called “second skin” (Dermalize, Saniderm, SecondSkin, 2ndSkin, Tegaderm, etc.). This transparent film is designed to last several days and acts as a protective barrier over the tattoo, shielding it from external contaminants while allowing it to breathe. The bandage is left on for 2-3 days before removing to clean the new tattoo.
The second option involves using ointment and a nonadhesive plastic barrier film. This method typically involves applying a thin layer of ointment prescribed by your tattoo artist onto the fresh tattoo, followed by covering it with a nonadhesive plastic film. The purpose of this film is to create a barrier between the tattoo and your clothing or other surfaces, preventing friction and potential irritation. This bandage is left on for only a few hours before removing to clean the tattoo.
While these methods can aid in the healing process, it's essential to be mindful that every individual may have different reactions and sensitivities. It is strongly advised to consult with your tattoo artist about which aftercare method would be most suitable for you based on factors such as skin type and personal preferences. Bigger tattoos will always take longer to heal than smaller tattoos.
A proper aftercare is crucial for ensuring the longevity and vibrancy of your new tattoo. Neglecting any steps or deviating from the recommended guidelines below can lead to complications such as infections or color fading. Always approach aftercare with caution and follow the instructions provided by your trusted tattoo artist at Gold Sparrow Tattoo.
To ensure the best possible outcome for your tattoo, please do not hesitate to email or call our shop. We value each and every one of our clients and are committed to providing the support and guidance needed throughout the healing process. It is always better to seek clarification than risk any potential complications that could have been easily avoided with proper information.
